Judith Dawn Nixon
Judy Nixon was born in March 1957 to Carrie and Martin Nixon in Dryden, Ontario. She grew up and attended school in Wapella, Saskatchewan and finished high school at Bedford Collegiate in Saskatoon. In 1984, Judy achieved a long-time goal of graduating from the University of Alberta Nursing program in Edmonton, Alberta. She worked as an Operating Room Nurse in Grande Prairie, Whitehorse, Dawson Creek, and then Calgary, until she became ill in the late 80’s.
Judy was hardworking, had many passions, and a delightful sense of humor. Unfortunately, she passed away too early in 2002, leaving her parents, four siblings, many relatives, and friends to mourn her loss. The Judith Dawn Nixon Award was established in 2014 as a memorial to provide bursaries for students entering their second year of nursing at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
