Melvin and Claire Sloat Memorial Award

Melvin and Claire Sloat Memorial Award

Melvin was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed much of the wild in Saskatchewan. Every year he and his wife, Claire, camped, hiked and hunted with friends and alone throughout the province, but mostly in the far north. Melvin knew most birds’ songs and habits and most animal’s habits as well. He was a gentle, kind man who loved children but they had none of their own. They did, however, shower the neighbourhood children and their nieces and nephews with love. Melvin had a fulfilling career working at the STC garage in Regina. Melvin and his wife believed in supporting and helping others.

The Melvin and Claire Sloat Memorial Award will support students enrolled full-time in the Veterinary Technology diploma program or Resource and Environmental Law diploma program.
