Patricia (Pat) Verbeke

Patricia (Pat) Verbeke was a lifelong Medical Laboratory Technologist.

She worked various jobs in her field before settling in Saskatoon where she resided until her recent passing.
She made many lifelong friends during her employment at Medical Arts, Royal University Hospital, and Saskatchewan Polytechnic and always took great pride in her work.

Midway through her career she made the decision to return to school to work towards obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree. Upon reflection of the best program to pursue she followed her heart and decided on a Fine Arts degree in Drama. After years of study she completed her goal and received her degree with High Honours from the University of Saskatchewan.

She was also very proud to be a Saskatchewan Representative on the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) for several years.

She found her role as a Medical Laboratory Technology Instructor at Saskatchewan Polytechnic both challenging and rewarding. She worked hard to learn many new skills and always had the best interests of her students in mind.

It saddened her as she became ill that she ultimately had to give up her teaching position that while stressful at times gave her great fulfillment. She was proud of all of her students and was so happy to see them succeed.

Pat lost a courageous three year battle with cancer on September 27, 2025 at the age of 66. As a testament to the pride she took in her teaching and the care she had for her students, her family has helped to create a memorial scholarship in her honor.
