Wilfred Thiele Bursary
Wilfred A Thiele was born and raised in Spring Valley, SK, 40 miles south of Moose Jaw. He was one of fifteen children born to Mary and Albert Thiele. He attended school in Spring Valley, eventually going to Saskatchewan Technical Institute (now Saskatchewan Polytechnic) in Moose Jaw. He graduated in 1969 with a Diploma of Technology in Drafting Technology.
He later moved to Calgary, AB where he attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. He graduated with a Diploma in Construction Administration and Inspection Technology in 1988. Wilfred had been a member of The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET) since 1988. Wilfred’s career spanned over 40 years in the field of construction and construction administration. Wilfred was a strong advocate of mentoring and further education. He started volunteering with the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists in 2013 in the areas of mentoring and exam development.
It was Wilfred’s wish to continue to assist others in their educational endeavors through the establishment of The Wilfred Thiele Bursary. This bursary is intended to assist students who have a pressing financial need and are enrolled full-time at Saskatchewan Polytechnic Moose Jaw campus in one of the programs listed below:
Architectural Technologies Diploma program, Carpentry Certificate program, Business Information Systems Diploma program, Computer Engineering Technology Diploma program, Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma program, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology Diploma program, Instrumentation Engineering Technology Diploma program, Welding Certificate program, Civil Engineering Technologies, Environmental Engineering Technology Diploma program
